Project Summary :: El Niño Felíz
Enrollment (year-round) - up to 70 students
Located in Santa Cruz, Honduras, Central America
The El Niño Felíz project is more than just a daycare, more than a school... it is a community support system allowing parents (specifically mothers) to return to work, knowing their children are being taken care of and educated. In a rural and very poor area of Honduras, this literally is a life-changing service.
Enrollment in the project is offered first to the poorest families of preschool children (ages 3 to 7) in the community. These underprivileged children are given a head start in their education in a supervised and healthy environment instead of being on the streets. It is common for children this young to work for a few cents a day, forfeiting an education, and potentially never again having the opportunity to go to school. One nutritious meal, provided by El Niño Felíz each school day, is a highlight and health benefit for children without access to consistent, balanced meals at home. Besides taking care of basic needs, like food, the preschoolers are taught academic curriculum and participate in evangelical teachings through songs and Bible stories.
The staff of El Niño Felíz are simply amazing. They are passionate and committed to helping as many children as space allows. Every year, additional families are turned away because the program is always run at capacity. The total project is funded by donors like you. A donation of $15 per month is enough to sponsor one student. This covers one meal per day, school uniform, and school supplies.
With your prayers and support,
we hope to keep El Niño Felíz --
"The Happy Child" -- funded and
prospering. Thank you!
